Update March 3, 2018

"As a number of you already know, it is with a heavy heart indeed that I need to resign from my position at First Baptist Church.  A favorite verse of mine is found in Proverbs 16:9, "A man plans his way, but the Lord directs his steps."  It seems that the steps of Linda and me are being redirected, even though we do not know what that direction looks like.

My health is doing better; thank you for your prayers.  Although we are not exactly sure what is still going on, it does seems that the high elevation is either causing or exasperating the situation.  Although I have wrestled with minor headaches, nausea, and occasional major migraine-like headaches since coming to Lake City, the last two months has seen an increase both in intensity and frequency with now other symptoms.

Although our time at Lake City has been short, it has definitely been sweet.  The opportunity to be your pastor has been an extremely humbling privilege the Lord has bless me with.  The fellowship has been good.  Your patience with and trust of me through the various changes I know have not been easy at times.  But you have responded and continue to show a teachable spirit - which is a rare trait - for the cause of the Lord Jesus.

For both Linda and I, our love and appreciation for the church in Lake City will always have a special place in our hearts.  If either of us can be of help to you, please do not hesitate to contact us."

In Jesus' love and grace,

1 kolkowsMy name is Grant Kolkow.  My beautiful spouse Linda and I have been married for thirty-one years.  We are truly blessed with six grown children, three sons-in-law, two daughters-in-law, and eleven grandchildren.

At the age of six, God graciously saved me whereby I could understand my sinfulness, the importance of the cross, and the need for personal repentance and faith in the Lord Jesus.  This occurred while I was reading a story from a children’s Bible storybook.  At the age of ten, I was baptized.  Although my childhood and adolescent years were blessed, but marked with instability, God continued to prove His faithfulness to me by increasing my knowledge of the importance of Christ and His Holy Scripture.  At the age of 23, I responded to God’s call to vocational ministry.  I received my ordination for ministry from Takilma Bible Church (affiliated with American Missionary Fellowship, now known as InFaith), located outside of Cave Junction, Oregon.

My educational background includes an A.S. degree in business and a B.S. degree in theological studies.  Also I was blessed to receive my Masters of Divinity (2003) and Doctor of Ministry (2014) degrees from the Master’s Seminary in Sun Valley, California.  My pastoral experience includes ministries in Oregon, Arizona, Utah, and Colorado.
